The Black Terror

A story heard all too often. He was a mild mannered pharmacist who was pushed around once to often. Bob Benton had enough so he created a special formula that gave him superpowers and became The Black Terror! Another of my favs, he has been recently revived (again) by Project Superpowers although he is very cranky now compared to his cheerful demeanor in the 1940s. The Black Terror, like so many heroes of the day, had a young boy as a sidekick, Timmy. The Black Terror and Timmy. You had me until the Timmy part. They were known as the 'Twin Terrors', The Black Terror because he could beat you up, Timmy because of the dialogue. Terror had one unfortunate weakness: he was super-strong, totally bulletproof but not chair proof. Sneak up behind him, give him a whack and he was yours for the taking. It happened every issue. Sad.
The villain in this one is The Robot Master. He never appeared in a story, only on the cover of Exciting Comics issue 45. Imagine when comics used to be exciting . . . what a golden age!
